African American Mayors Association Statement on Mass Shooting in Birmingham, Alabama

(Washington, DC) – The African American Mayors Association (AAMA) offers its deepest condolences to the victims and their families, and the Birmingham community following a mass shooting on Saturday. The shooting, which occurred outside of a Birmingham club, left four people dead and left ten others injured.
“The news out of Birmingham this past weekend, where four individuals lost their lives due to a senseless shooting, is heartbreaking. We are lifting up the victims and their families in prayer in the wake of this tragedy,” said AAMA President Montgomery, AL Mayor Steven Reed. “As an association, we stand with our fellow member Mayor Randall Woodfin and the city of Birmingham during this dark time, and we remain committed to combating the scourge of gun violence in our communities.”
